THE 12TH MONGOLIA – JAPAN THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR JOINT CONSULTATIVE MEETING HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY HELD IN TOKYO, JAPAN

The President of the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) B.Lkhagvajav and representatives from 15 companies of the Chamber participated in the 12th Mongolia – Japan the Public and Private Sectors Consultative Meeting held in Tokyo, Japan. This annual meeting coincided this year with the Independence Day of Mongolia and the Adoption of the First Constitution, and it served as an important event for expanding economic, trade, and technological cooperation between the two countries.
In his remarks at the opening of the meeting, MNCCI president B.Lkhagvajav highlighted the “World Expo 2025”, which was held during this summer in Osaka, Japan. He noted that cooperation between Mongolia and Japan continues to deepen each year, evolving beyond the traditional spheres of economy and trade to reach new levels in technology, green economy and the digital transformation. He also emphasized that the MNCCI always ready to supports businesses in these areas of collaboration and is committed to proactively engaging in joint efforts to move forward.

At the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia Kh.Gankhuyag and MNCCI President B.Lkhagvajav represented Mongolia, while Japan was represented by Vice-Minister of Economy and Industry K.Yamada, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs T.Shimada, and Chair of the Japan–Mongolia Economic Committee H.Tsubai. In their remarks, they highlighted the importance of developing the two countries’ strategic economic partnership, also noting that over the 53 years since Mongolia and Japan established diplomatic relations in 1972, their ties have grown richer in content and their economic partnership has steadily expanded and strengthened.
Mongolia successfully participated in the “Osaka–Kansai Expo 2025,” with the MNCCI managing the “Mongolia Pavilion” over six months. This not only made a significant contribution to bilateral relations but also attracted approximately 4 million visitors to the pavilion during the exhibition. It provided a platform to showcase Mongolia’s history, cultural heritage, and contemporary development to the international community, while further expanding opportunities for Mongolian companies to introduce their products to the market of Japan.

Over the past 30 years, Japan’s direct investment to Mongolia has exceeded 1.15 billion USD, and by the end of 2024, bilateral trade reached 1.2 billion USD, reflecting the steady growth of economic cooperation between the two countries.
Additionally, during the meeting, representatives from Mongolia and Japanese businesses delivered insightful speeches. For instance, Mrs. D.Dolgorjav, Director of “Khorgyn Gol” LLC, gave a presentation on “Combating Desertification,” highlighting the need to expand Mongolia–Japan cooperation in addressing climate change, soil degradation, and environmental protection. Meanwhile, Dr. D.Tsolmonbaatar, Vice-Rector of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, presented on “The Development of Mongolia–Japan Science, Technology, and Industrial Cooperation,” introducing new opportunities for technological innovation and engineering integration between the two countries.

The 12th Mongolia – Japan the Public and Private Sector Joint Consultative Meeting concluded as an important forum for elevating bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, science, innovation, and green development.
