DISCUSSING NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIA-MONGOLIA TRADE AND INVESTMENT

Ms. Saruul Bulgan, Secretary General of the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI), participated in the “India–Mongolia Trade Promotion Workshop” organized by the Embassy of the Republic of India in Mongolia, where she delivered a presentation on the current state of bilateral trade and the business environment.

The event was officially opened by H.E. Mr. Atul Malhari Gotsurve, Ambassador of the Republic of India to Mongolia, and H.E. Mr. D. Ganbold, Ambassador of Mongolia to India. In his opening remarks, Ambassador Gotsurve highlighted the steady growth of trade relations between India and Mongolia in recent years. Ambassador Ganbold noted that 2025 marked the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, a significant milestone underscored by the state visit of President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa to the Republic of India. He further emphasized that this historic visit created new opportunities to expand and strengthen bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

Representatives from the mining, services, and pharmaceutical supply sectors delivered presentations highlighting the significant opportunities available in the Mongolian market. However, Indian business representatives also emphasized that limited export corridors and logistics always limit the possibilities of developing bilateral trade. Moreover, while bilateral trade turnover between the two countries has been steadily increasing each year, India currently accounts for less than one percent of the total trade volume of both countries.

Against this backdrop, the workshop served as an important platform for business communities and government representatives from both countries to exchange views on ways to increase bilateral trade turnover, diversify the range of traded goods, and strengthen economic relations through enhanced policy coordination.
