TRAM Project
TRAM is an EU-funded programme that aims to strengthen capacities and to support Mongolian public institutions and the private sector for effective trade policy initiatives with a special focus on specific products/sectors with high potential for export, to effectively participate in the world economy.
Objectives:
Overall objective: The overall objective is to enhance Mongolia's international trade and economic diversification and to contribute to sustainable economic growth and development of the country, with the ultimate goal of reducing poverty and external vulnerabilities.
Project purpose: The purpose of this contract is to strengthen capacities and to support Mongolian public institutions and private sector for effective trade policy initiatives with a special focus on specific products/sectors with high potential, to effectively participate in the world economy.
Activities:
Component 1: Trade Policy Formulation and Negotiation
Component 2: Trade Facilitation
Component 3: Capacity Building of Business Associations
The key beneficiaries of TRAM are the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and The Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Result:
Result 1: Enhanced policy dialogue and government capacity and processes for trade policy formulation and negotiation.
Result 2: Effective implementation of concrete measures to reduce trade costs, including mainstreaming of trade policy in other sector policies.
Result 3: Strengthening of the institutional capacity of the private sector intermediary organisations and other trade-related non-state actors, with a view to effectively support private enterprises as well as engage effectively with relevant government interlocutors.
