Joint project on supporting Mongolian economic diversification implemented successfully
On April 19, a seminar entitled “Success & Lessons Learned” was held in the Blue Sky hotel to conclude the EBRD/EU project on supporting the Mongolian economic diversification through SME access to finance and to build effective Business Membership Organizations (BMO).
Aimed at strengthening business associations and securing their sustainability in order to support SMEs, the support measures included conferences, workshops for BMO staff and leadership, individual coaching, matching services and webinars. Lasted for 18 months, the project involved 12 BMOs together with over 1,000 members from various sectors. MNCCI branches in Khentii, Sukhbaatar and Gobi-Altai provinces were involved in the project as well. Over 150 participants attended workshops conducted by the Consortium APPLICATIO Training & Management, ICON Institute, and more than 700 coaching days were implemented by Mongolian experts and international coaches to ensure that associations grow in terms of paying members and financial figures.
As a result of the project, local branches of MNCCI determined their visions, strategies and purposes, and the number of tax-paying members increased. In addition, they had membership data and classified services for the members, said Mrs. B.Saruul, General-Secretary of MNCCI. She pointed out that MNCCI has the willingness to cooperate with the EBRD in enhancing the branch chambers and implementing various projects.
At the seminar, some BMOs reported about their achievements through the project. In the conclusion part, participants of the projects were granted certificates.
